Welcome
Welcome from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Health Related Professions (SHRP) at UMMC. Originally established in 1971, SHRP has awarded more than 6,000 degrees to date.
Located on UMMC's Jackson campus, the school began by offering certificates in dental hygiene and medical records administration. In 1973, SHRP added physical therapy, which became the school's first baccalaureate offering. Since then, the school has grown steadily and now offers bachelor's degrees in health systems administration, health informatics and information management, histotechnology, medical laboratory science, and radiologic sciences. SHRP also offers a master of health systems administration, a master of health informatics and information management, a master of science in magnetic resonance imaging, a master of science in nuclear medicine technology, a doctor of occupational therapy, a doctor of physical therapy, and a doctor of health administration. SHRP also has a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health Informatics and Leadership & Management.
SHRP features state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories and is one of the finest facilities in the country for health-related professions. Completed in 1999, the building features therapy skills laboratories, clinical laboratories, a radiologic simulation laboratory, and a state-of-the-art active learning classroom known as the Collaboratory.
We welcome all students around the state to consider our programs. We have made it easier for place-bound students to further their education at SHRP without leaving their hometowns. Our advanced standing and progression programs are designed to identify and recruit highly qualified students early, so that upon graduation from an allied health program at a Mississippi community college, they can enter the work force and simultaneously enroll in one of our online baccalaureate programs.
If you are interested in a career where you have opportunities to make a difference in the lives of your fellow Mississippians. SHRP may have just the program for you. Give us a call at (601) 984-6300, or email us on this website to learn more about any of our programs.
We look forward to hearing from you.
